By the word Hijab, we generally mean a piece of cloth that some Muslim women wear as headscarf or head cover as a veil in public or in front of the non-mahrams (the marriageable one). But literally the hijab doesn’t mean the head cover.
The word Hijab came from the Arabic three root letters and they are “ha”, “jeem,” and “ba. By adding all, it becomes the word “hajaba” which indicates the meaning of “conceal or hide from view or veil”. It’s actually a word for “barrier”. For example, a wall could be a hijab, a curtain could be a hijab. It just got coined as “Hijab” from which we refer to the meaning of covering head for a woman in Islam.
But actually, that’s not the word for head covering in the Qur’an, nor the Arabs ever used it like that. So the word for head covering is actually “Khimar”, that we find in the Quran, what we usually understand as Hijab in general. The meaning of “Khimar” includes the covering of head, and then some other parts of the body. The Arab women before Islam also used to wear khimar, but they used to drape the extension behind the back. Then the Quran came and clearly commanded to draw the khimars, their head coverings in front of them, before the chest.
On the other hand, Hijab is not just a piece of cloth covering the head and chest. Hijab is the combination of overall modesty, decency and covering, concealing or protecting our adornments which may add attractiveness and grab attention of the non-mahrams. Hijab is the veil that covers a woman's head and chest as well as the entire body except for the face and hands; also hijab is the veil or barrier that should be maintained in every aspect of a woman’s conduct in her life. Hijab in the Quran concerns to protect both men’s and women’s “gaze, gait, garments and genitalia”. So Hijab is an overall state of being, the way we look, talk, walk, act – in every aspect, even in our intentions keeping the modesty and decency is called Hijab.

You will be charged once you have finalised your order online. If you have a discount code, enter it in the field marked 'discount code' before you proceed to the checkout. Your account will only be debited once your order has been validated. In the unlikely event that we are unable to fulfil your order, we will contact you immediately to notify you of any problems, and if necessary arrange a suitable replacement or cancel the item from your order.

We recommend that you use registered mail to send items back to us as we cannot accept liability for loss or damage in transit. The goods are your responsibility until they reach our address. We make all our hijabs with such measurements that most of the average sized women in the world can fit into our hijabs. However, if you purchase a hijab from our online store and think it’s not fitting you, please take some quick pictures wearing the hijabs and send to support@halalhijab.com so that we can identify if there is any issue, give you some suggestions to solve the issue or fix it for the next time.
